Amy Meyer — “And that’s what we got.”
When we started researching this project in February of 2011, there was one name at the top of our list of people with whom to consult… Amy Meyer. This legendary park advocate and protector is also a world-class practitioner of democracy. She knows intimately the story of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area’s creation. It is, in large part, her story, too. One she tells compellingly on the pages of New Guardians for the Golden Gate, available from University of California Press.
Now that we’re into production, Amy is among the first of our on camera interviews. Here’s a brief moment from our conversation at Fort Miley, down the street from her home and ground zero for the early organizing efforts that helped create this most valuable national park in an urban area.
